you are my brother and my strange acquaintance

You are my brother and my strange acquaintance,
My feral child,
Like a wild fox, you vanish into the trees,
Returning with a grin from ear to ear.
Your smile remains when I touch the window pane,
And summon the leaves to perform their mystical dance,
Churning in red tones on the edge of the wind.
Emerging from the branches like a mirage,
You elude me,
But in the waking dream of life I find you curled and docile.
